BooksVox: Built for Audiobook Lovers, By an Audiobook Lover!

imikidas

Hey everyone,

You know that feeling when you're deep into an audiobook, but the player just... isn't quite right? That's exactly how I felt, and after seeing countless "dream feature" discussions in audiobook communities, I realized I wasn't alone. So, I took all those ideas to heart and built BooksVox – an audiobook player designed to solve those nagging frustrations.

After a lot of late nights (seriously, don't ask! 😅), BooksVox is now live, and it’s truly a labor of love. I focused on features that make a real difference for avid listeners:

  • Flexible Library Management: No more rigid structures! BooksVox lets you point to multiple folders and recognizes single .m4a/.m4b files, giving you total control over your library.

  • Freeform Custom Metadata: Want to track characters, add personal tags like #scifi or #favorite, or keep notes? You can add any custom data you like, even with Markdown!

  • Powerful Filtering: As your library grows, finding that one specific book or series is a breeze with advanced filtering based on titles, authors, folder paths, and your custom tags.

  • Essential Listening Tools: Of course, it has all the core features you'd expect: granular speed control (saved per-book!), configurable skip times, a proper playback queue, and a smart sleep timer.

My goal was to create a powerful yet flexible player that truly enhances your listening experience.
